Juli Kepes began to study the Alexander technique in Hungary, then
attended the Alexander Training Institute of Los Angeles for 2 years
from 1998, where she received an international teacher’s diploma. She
has been teaching the Alexander technique in a private practice and in
schools for performance artists in Los Angeles and Budapest since 1998.
She has been working successfully with dancers at the Budapest
Contemporary Dance Academy as a member of the dance technique training
support team since 2001.
The technique that is used to great
effect in the everyday as well as the professional lives of many
performers, office workers, housewives, managers, sportsmen is named
after its inventor, Frederick Matthias Alexander (1869-1955). The
Alexander technique is a psycho-physical method that helps us
understand the harmful effects that incorrect habits of posture may
have on our health and the harmony of our bodies and minds. The
objective of the technique is to develop body awareness to achieve
better posture, greater freedom of movement, easier breathing and an
all-in-all less stressed condition both physically and psychologically. website»
